Chijioke Nwaozuzu is a native of Mbieri in Mbaitoli LGA, Imo-State, Nigeria. He attended Government Secondary School, Owerri, Imo-State, Nigeria (1973-78) and finished in First Division; Federal School of Arts & Science, Aba, Abia-State, Nigeria (1978-79); and the University of Nigeria (1979-83) with an Upper Second Class, 2:1.
Nwaozuzu was appointed Professor of Petroleum Economics, Management & Policy by the Victoria Global University, Island of Turks & Caicos (UK Territory). He was also conferred with the Degree of Doctor of Science (DSc), by VGU in 2014. .
He had also served as the Director of External Affairs at the African Business School, Abuja, Nigeria, and also the Technical Adviser to the Chairman, National Refineries Special Task Force, Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Abuja, Nigeria.
After 18 years of senior management career, he went on a career break to the United Kingdom for further studies in 2001, where he obtained a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, Scotland in 2003. He also studied for and obtained a Specialized MBA in Oil & Gas Management and a PhD in Downstream Petroleum Management & Policy from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum, Mineral Law & Policy (CEPMLP), University of Dundee, Scotland in 2004 and 2010 respectively.
He obtained the prestigious British Chevening Scholarship Award (British Government Scholarship for Foreign Students) which enabled him to pursue the MBA programs, and also the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Scholarship, for his doctorate program.
Nwaozuzu’s first book was published (free of charge) by LAP LAMBERT ACADEMIC PUBLISHING, GmbH, GERMANY, titled “The Regulation of Fuel Retailing & Rural Development Policy”. Electronic and Paperback copies are available on all major internet bookstores.
Nwaozuzu has recently published another professional book titled, “A Contemporary Review of the Nigerian Petroleum Industry (2011-13): An Investor’s Guide”, published by LAP LAMBERT ACADEMIC PUBLISHING, GERMANY in 2013. He has written a number of research papers and newspaper / magazine articles in his area of expertise or subject area.
Nwaozuzu has consulted for numerous international and domestic companies, including Oracle Energy Corporation based in Vancouver, Canada; the National Refineries Special Task Force, Nigeria, Private Refinery Projects in Nigeria, etc.
Nwaozuzu holds Fellowship status in numerous professional bodies, including the Certified Institute of Public Administrators (FCIPA); Institute of Management Specialists UK (FIMS, UK), Institute of Business Analysis & Customer Intelligence (FIBACI); Chartered Institute of Administrators (FCIA); the Civilian Institute for Democratic Administration (FCIDA); National Institute for Education and Research (FNIER); International Association of Research Scholars (FIARS); Occupational Safety and Health Association UK (FOSHA, UK)
He has received numerous awards, notably Zik Leadership Award (2015); United Nations (POLAC) Ambassador for Peace Award (2015); African Leader of Integrity Award (2016); British High Commission Leadership Award (2016); Nigeria Humanitarian Icon Award (2017); NDIGBO Development & Leadership Award (2017); City Pride Award (2017); African Leader of Excellence Award (2017); African Prize for Transparency, Selfless Service, and Accountability in Leadership (2018); Outstanding Personality Service Award for Distinguished Africans (2018); ECOWAS Distinguished Leadership Award (2018), West African Leadership Icon Award (2019); Time Africa Magazine Personality of the Year Award (2020), etc.
Nwaozuzu is happily married to Dr Daisy Nwaozuzu, a lecturer in ICT Strategy and Management at the Vice Chancellor’s Office, Coventry University, England, United Kingdom, and they are blessed with three sons namely, Brian, Justin & Marlon Nwaozuzu. He loves reading philosophical and psychology books, plays golf, chess and table-tennis, and loves listening to good rhythm and blues songs.
