Professor Adolf Cookey took his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from University of Benin in 1981 and 1998 respectively. He taught Monetary and Quantitative Economics for a brief period at the College of Education, Nsugbe, Anambra State before proceeding to the University of Port Harcourt for his Ph.D in 1989. In February, 1991 he joined the academic staff of University of Portharcourt as an assistant lecturer in the department of Economics. He was promoted to Lecturer 11 in 1994, lecturer 1 in 1997 and Senior lecturer in 2001.
He has served the University in various capacities including membership of Postgraduate Board (2001 – 2005), Ag Head of Economics (2003 – 2005).
He was promoted to the rank of a Professor in April 2012. He teaches and publishes professional papers in the areas of Mathematical Economics, Econometrics, Economic Statistics, Monetary Economics and Research Methods.
