Dr. Nwankwo, G. Adiele

Dr. Adiele Nwankwo is a strategic visionary leader and Management Consultant in infrastructure development and services. He is a senior executive and consummate transportation professional with 30 years of Public and Private sector experience. Dr. Nwankwo is recognized for his exceptional ability to recruit and mentor outstanding talents and to develop, implement, and successfully manage engineering and planning studies/programs. He is also known for his effectiveness in building organizations, leading and managing people through open channels of communication and collaborative relationships. The possessor of excellent facilitation and mediation skills, Dr. Nwankwo has successfully facilitated and chaired several internal and external high-level meetings with government agencies, private-sector and non-profit organizations. He is a leader and decision maker with strong business, financial, engineering, people and client relationship acumen.

Dr. Nwankwo has served in several high visibility and leadership positions in Parsons Brinckerhoff. Currently, as the Atlanta PB Area Manager he directs PB business operations in Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi and in a little more than year has led successful effort to win work and get PB back at MARTA, and added a new strategic client – the Beltline. He also leads PB’s effort to bring greater value to the Metropolitan areas with strategic focus in infrastructure planning, assessment, operations and management. An innovator in planning applications, he initiated and completed the first GIS Transportation application in the state of Michigan and is credited with the development and implementation of a methodology for integrating traffic safety with regional transportation plans, for which he received the 1994 Traffic Safety Award for outstanding Contributions to improve traffic safety.

Twice recognized, in 2006 and 2008, by the Career Communications Group as one of the Most Influential Blacks in business and technology.

Dr. Nwankwo was trained in the fields of Economics, Civil Engineering and Urban Planning. He holds a Ph.D. in Urban, Technological and Environmental Planning, University of Michigan, 1992 and M.S., Civil Engineering, Ohio State University, 1981. He is professionally affiliated to Transportation Research Board (TRB), American Planning Association (APA) and Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO)

He has vast teaching experience at the three largest universities in the state of Michigan namely University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI; Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI; and Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. He taught courses spanning across project management, leadership, career development, building strategic networks, strategic vision implementation, diversity and inclusion.  Dr. Nwankwo has been a keynote speaker on transportation and infrastructure development strategies and related issues at various events held in Tanzania and Nigeria. He held the position of Senior Vice President, Parsons Brinckerhoff, Inc. from 1999 to 2012. Before then, he was the Manager, Southeast Michigan Council of Government, Transport Programs, 1982-1998.
